This 7 Shank is 6 ½” long and has quite a bit of weight behind the mouthpiece, which allows a quick release from the rider’s hands.  This is an excellent transition bit out of an O-ring or d-ring.  The 5 1/8” medium port is mild, but delivers ample collection and break at the poll.

We added length to the shanks for the added control needed for colts or serious competition. Notice how well the nose floats as you pull the shanks to keep the nose riding in proper position but will not drop down to cut off the horses wind. Shanks are designed to swivel for excellent flex. Rope nose is for better control. Stainless steel resists rust.

This is my favorite bit in my collection. I have ridden two different horses to world titles using this hackamore. "The hackamore is great for a horse that just needs some guiding around the turn or one that does not like a bit in its mouth. The side pull action on the shank makes it easy for your horse to work without getting in its way and gives you a small amount of lift. The o-ring is a great bit to start colts in and show them the basics of barrel racing. The twisted wire gives you good control and makes it easier to direct a young horse. The large connection in the center of the snaffle keeps the bit from locking up keeping the horse comfortable. The weight of the rings also makes the bit very balanced. The dog bone mouthpiece applies more pressure to the outside of the bars providing more flex and bend than a traditional two-piece snaffle.
