The 7 Shank has quite a bit of weight behind the mouthpiece, which allows a quick release from the rider’s hands.  This is an excellent transition bit out of an O-ring or D-ring.  The square port is more aggressive than the traditional rounded port because you are working off the corners of the mouth.  The twisted bar pieces are more aggressive.   Mouth: 5 1/8" Cheek: 6 1/2" Port: 1 1/2"

The 7-1/2-inch cheek style is next in the lineup. Extremely versatile, this bit can be used for training drills, pleasure riding, or competition. This cheek has a 2-1/2-inch purchase with a 5-inch shank. The shank is swept back, like the 6-inch model, but to a lesser degree, which offers more leverage and control. When properly adjusted, it is still considered a mild cheek, but one with plenty of leverage for control at increased speeds. The Floating Spade has a stainless steel cheek with inlaid copper floating spade mouthpiece. The mouthpiece wraps over the tongue with applied pressure. This is a great bit to introduce a horse to palate pressure as you transition to ported bits and taller corrections.

The 6-inch cheek has a 2-1/2-inch purchase and a 3-1/2-inch shank. This ratio (the difference in the length of the purchase and shank) and the swept-back design of the shank make this a mild cheek. Contact with the horse’s mouth comes slowly in the form of soft pressure to all points of contact. The main point of contact is the corners of the mouth, which is a familiar spot from the O Ring. This bit may also be used with a training fork or martingale to encourage collection and poll control. The mouthpiece is inlaid with copper to stimulate salivation. The mouthpiece is 5-1/8-inch wide, 3/8-inch in diameter, and curved to shape to the corner of the mouth for soft, evenly distributed pressure to the bars, tongue, and corners of the mouth.

In the Lifter bits there are two different shanks, each with four different mouthpieces. The medium measures 6" and the long measures 8". This gives the rider lots of different options to choose from. These bits are for all different types of horses, from the light horse that needs help on the back side or the hard runner that needs help shutting down for the turn. The Long Gag is 8" long which gives the rider leverage when needed. The travel of the cheek not only provides excellent shoulder lift, but also collection.
