This bit is excellent for a horse with a soft mouth. The gag cheek provides elevation in the shoulders. All of these bits should be adjusted to fit with one wrinkle in the horses mouth and a loose curb strap to allow 2-3 fingers.This mouthpiece will provide the horse with some tongue relief and the chain is light on the bars. This is my favorite bit in my collection. I have ridden two different horses to world titles using this hackamore. "The hackamore is great for a horse that just needs some guiding around the turn or one that does not like a bit in its mouth. The side pull action on the shank makes it easy for your horse to work without getting in its way and gives you a small amount of lift. The combination is a great transition from the o-ring. The combo uses the rope nose and gag to simultaneously ask the horse to break at the pole and give you more leverage.
