This shank will give more leverage while maintaining a soft feel. A step up from the short shank allowing the rider to move forward to the next level of training. All of these bits should be adjusted to fit with one wrinkle in the horse's mouth and a loose curb strap to allow 2-3 fingers. This mouthpiece will provide the horse with some tongue relief and the chain is light on the bars. Effective in lifting the head and shoulders, the chain allows for independent rein action while the port encourages collection.NOTE: This bit will rust when exposed to moisture. This creates a sweet taste in the horses mouth and promotes salivation.

The 7 Shank is has quite a bit of weight behind the mouthpiece, which allows a quick release from the rider’s hands.  This is an excellent transition bit out of an O-ring or D-ring.  The wide ported chain mouthpiece is a step up from a traditional ported chain bit. The 7-1/2-inch cheek style is next in the lineup. Extremely versatile, this bit can be used for training drills, pleasure riding, or competition. This cheek has a 2-1/2-inch purchase with a 5-inch shank. The shank is swept back, like the 6-inch model, but to a lesser degree, which offers more leverage and control. When properly adjusted, it is still considered a mild cheek, but one with plenty of leverage for control at increased speeds. The Ported Chain has a stainless steel cheek with an inlaid copper ported chain mouthpiece. This unique mouthpiece allows for tongue relief while providing flex and bend. It also encourages the horse to break at the poll. Sweet iron chain is pinch less and comfortable. Ideal for finished, well-broke horses.
