The Long Gag is 8" long which gives the rider leverage when needed. The travel of the cheek not only provides excellent shoulder lift, but also collection. Brittany originally created it as a competition bit for NFR but uses it primarily as a warm up bit. It helps Brittany to achieve a lot of lateral movement and keeps her horses responsive. In the Lifter bits there are two different shanks, each with four different mouthpieces. The medium measures 6" and the long measures 8". This gives the rider lots of different options to choose from. These bits are for all different types of horses, from the light horse that needs help on the back side or the hard runner that needs help shutting down for the turn. The 7 Shank has quite a bit of weight behind the mouthpiece, which allows a quick release from the rider’s hands.  This is an excellent transition bit out of an O-ring or D-ring.  The square port is more aggressive than the traditional rounded port because you are working off the corners of the mouth.  The twisted bar pieces are more aggressive.

This shank will give more leverage while maintaining a soft feel. A step up from the short shank allowing the rider to move forward to the next level of training. All of these bits should be adjusted to fit with one wrinkle in the horse's mouth and a loose curb strap to allow 2-3 fingers. This mouthpiece is soft on their bars, making this bit good for lateral control and collection.
