The o-ring is a great bit to start colts in and show them the basics of barrel racing. The twisted wire gives you good control and makes it easier to direct a young horse. The large connection in the center of the snaffle keeps the bit from locking up keeping the horse comfortable. The weight of the rings also makes the bit very balanced. The Long Gag is 8" long which gives the rider leverage when needed. The travel of the cheek not only provides excellent shoulder lift, but also collection. Brittany originally created it as a competition bit for NFR but uses it primarily as a warm up bit. It helps Brittany to achieve a lot of lateral movement and keeps her horses responsive. The unique design of this bit offers direct contact similar to a ring snaffle with the shoulder elevation of a gag and the collection from a curb strap. This is a great training or transition bit. The gag movement allows the horse to give at the poll before the curb comes into effect. All of these bits should be adjusted to fit with one wrinkle in the horse's mouth and a loose curb strap to allow 2-3 fingers.
