Equibrand Classic Tool Box Bit 8" Cavalry Square Hinge Port
This final cheek in the Tool Box is designed for the finished performance horse or tough-mouthed older horses where more control is needed. It can be used as a schooling bit to get a horse that is not responding to milder bits to collect and break at the poll. It is also often used in competition, and should not be used for daily training. The purchase is 2-1/2-inch and the shank 5-1/2-inch. The Cavalry designed shank is angled back to the horse, but at a straighter angle than the 7-1/2-inch model, causing a quicker, more immediate response. The purchase/shank alignment ratio increases leverage, creating greater realized pressure to all points of contact.

Equibrand Classic Tool Box Bit 7.5" Correction
The 7-1/2-inch cheek style is next in the lineup. Extremely versatile, this bit can be used for training drills, pleasure riding, or competition. This cheek has a 2-1/2-inch purchase with a 5-inch shank. The shank is swept back, like the 6-inch model, but to a lesser degree, which offers more leverage and control. When properly adjusted, it is still considered a mild cheek, but one with plenty of leverage for control at increased speeds. The Low Port Barrel is a highly universal bit that works well for anything from training to pleasure riding to competition. When engaged, the low port provides tongue relief as slight pressure is applied to the bars of the mouth and to the palate. Each side works independently from the port for increased lateral flexion.

Equibrand Classic Tool Box Bit 6" Short Correction
The 6-inch cheek has a 2-1/2-inch purchase and a 3-1/2-inch shank. This ratio (the difference in the length of the purchase and shank) and the swept-back design of the shank make this a mild cheek. Contact with the horse’s mouth comes slowly in the form of soft pressure to all points of contact. The main point of contact is the corners of the mouth, which is a familiar spot from the O Ring. This bit may also be used with a training fork or martingale to encourage collection and poll control. The mouthpiece is inlaid with copper to stimulate salivation. The mouthpiece is 5-1/8-inch wide, 3/8-inch in diameter, and curved to shape to the corner of the mouth for soft, evenly distributed pressure to the bars, tongue, and corners of the mouth.
