This final cheek in the Tool Box is designed for the finished performance horse or tough-mouthed older horses where more control is needed. It can be used as a schooling bit to get a horse that is not responding to milder bits to collect and break at the poll. It is also often used in competition, and should not be used for daily training. The purchase is 2-1/2-inch and the shank 5-1/2-inch. The Cavalry designed shank is angled back to the horse, but at a straighter angle than the 7-1/2-inch model, causing a quicker, more immediate response. The purchase/shank alignment ratio increases leverage, creating greater realized pressure to all points of contact. The 1-inch x 1-3/4-inch Correction is a step up in leverage and control. Applies increased pressure to all parts of the mouth and to the sides of the tongue. Not typically used in training, but often used to school horses that need a firmer reminder. Works well as a stopping or collection tool.

The Long Gag is 8" long which gives the rider leverage when needed. The travel of the cheek not only provides excellent shoulder lift, but also collection. Brittany originally created it as a competition bit for NFR but uses it primarily as a warm up bit. It helps Brittany to achieve a lot of lateral movement and keeps her horses responsive. The two-piece twisted wire mouthpiece is slightly more aggressive than a smooth mouthpiece, which delivers more response and respect from the horse.

This 7 Shank is 6 ½” long and has quite a bit of weight behind the mouthpiece, which allows a quick release from the rider’s hands. This is an excellent transition bit out of an o-ring or d-ring.
