The 7-1/2-inch cheek style is next in the lineup. Extremely versatile, this bit can be used for training drills, pleasure riding, or competition. This cheek has a 2-1/2-inch purchase with a 5-inch shank. The shank is swept back, like the 6-inch model, but to a lesser degree, which offers more leverage and control. When properly adjusted, it is still considered a mild cheek, but one with plenty of leverage for control at increased speeds. The Snaffle is one of the most popular bits with all horsemen. It applies more pressure to the tongue than the dogbone, giving it a quicker response. Widely used on horses for all types of riding. Offers lateral pull and collection.

This bit is excellent for a horse with a soft mouth. The gag cheek provides elevation in the shoulders. All of these bits should be adjusted to fit with one wrinkle in the horse's mouth and a loose curb strap to allow 2-3 fingers. This mouthpiece is a nice transition from a snaffle. The mild copper wire twist applies a more concentrated pressure to the bars and promotes more break at the poll, lateral movement and collection.NOTE: This bit will rust when exposed to moisture.
