This 7 Shank is 6 ½” long and has quite a bit of weight behind the mouthpiece, which allows a quick release from the rider’s hands. This is an excellent transition bit out of an o-ring or d-ring.

This shank will give more leverage while maintaining a soft feel. A step up from the short shank allowing the rider to move forward to the next level of training. All of these bits should be adjusted to fit with one wrinkle in the horse's mouth and a loose curb strap to allow 2-3 fingers. This mouthpiece is soft on their bars, making this bit good for lateral control and collection. A wonderful choice when transitioning from a D-Ring or O-Ring snaffle.NOTE: This bit will rust when exposed to moisture. This creates a sweet taste in the horses mouth and promotes salivation.

The 7-1/2-inch cheek style is next in the lineup. Extremely versatile, this bit can be used for training drills, pleasure riding, or competition. This cheek has a 2-1/2-inch purchase with a 5-inch shank. The shank is swept back, like the 6-inch model, but to a lesser degree, which offers more leverage and control. When properly adjusted, it is still considered a mild cheek, but one with plenty of leverage for control at increased speeds. The dogbone mouthpiece wraps the tongue when pressure is applied. Pressure is also realized on the chin from the curb strap to the bars and corners of the mouth. This bit works well on well-broke young horses or light-mouthed older horses.

The Yukon has more purchase than a traditional shorter shanked bit. This encourages ideal break at the poll while the shorter shank allows the bit to be more forgiving and encourage lateral movement. The dog bone mouthpiece applies more pressure to the outside of the bars providing more flex and bend than a traditional two-piece snaffle. This dog bone also has a roller in the middle, which is a great soothing tool for an anxious horse.
